One for the ice-skating enthusiasts, Chaparral Ice is a vibrant recreational arena that provides a great venue for ice skating. The arena was once a thriving mall but then switched to an ice-skating rink where kids and kids at heart can come down for a fun time. depending on the time of the year, you can even get a chance to try out free skating and curling. They also host competitive hockey games in which you can choose to participate with the kids as a way of having some old-fashioned fun.
If you enjoy the great outdoors, then this should definitely be high on your list. At the moment, it is the highest natural point in the city so naturally, you can expect to get some breathtaking views of the city from arguably the best vantage point. Despite all the good stuff being at the top, the hike is one to look forward to especially if you’re with a group as it is always a lot of fun. If you’re worried the kids will not be able to make it to the top, there is a 102-stair climb they can use which is safer and relatively easier.
This is a small outdoor spot in South Austin that features a lake as well as diverse plant and animal life. The Laguna Gloria is especially ideal for the lovers of nature who enjoy being out and about feasting their eyes on different species of plants and animals. The Laguna Gloria also has a small park where the kids can have some fun of their own and where you can just chill and enjoy the surroundings.
If you would much rather prefer something indoors then this is it. Established close to 100 years ago, the Texas Memorial Museum provides a great place where you and the kids can learn about the natural history of Texas as you feast your eyes on various exhibits from different points of history. It is virtually impossible to complete a tour of the whole museum within one day so we advise you either make a list of the galleries and exhibits you want to cover in a day or plan for a two-day trip to the museum. We promise you won’t regret this.
